POPLAVILLE, Mississippi (WDAM) – At the annual gathering at Pearl River Community College, hundreds of women focused on issues related to their health.
About 500 women attended the 16th annual Women’s Health Symposium on the PRCC campus on Saturday.
The event includes two sessions, one at brunch and one at lunch, with a free health check afterward.
Several vendors were on hand, providing information on a variety of health-related products and services.
One of the speakers at the event, retired U.S. Army Colonel Marilyn Wills, addressed the topic of resilience.
Willis was at the Pentagon when the 9/11 attacks occurred.
“Unfortunately, my office lost about 15 people, that’s the director of personnel, but how did I get over that?” Willis said. “Honestly, it took years,”
“I thought everything that needed to happen needed me, but I had to take time for self-care. I had to find those things that would heal me, and I used a regimen of three things: about the music in my mind; It’s about working out; of course, through all of this, I had to pray.”
Wells was a congressional affairs liaison officer for the Personnel Department at the time of the attack.
The first PRCC Women’s Health Symposium was held in 2007.
The event has been canceled for 2021 due to the pandemic.
