Actor Abhay Deol and director Anurag Kashyap collaborated on the 2009 film Dev.D, but despite the film’s success, they never worked together again.In a previous interview, Kashyap talked about his relationship with Abai. But in a new interview, the actor accuses Kasharp Spread “a lot of lies” about him.
In a chat with Noon, Abai Someone who called the filmmaker a “liar” and “toxic”. When asked what led to this fallout, Abai said, “He lied a lot about me in public.” He cited an earlier interview in which Kashyap had said that when the film’s unit Struggling with a limited budget, Abhay asked for a five-star hotel. The actor explained, “So, I’ll give you a lie, like, I asked for a hotel room. He actually came up to me and said, ‘Listen, you can’t stay with us, you’re Deol, so I’m going to put you in a hotel room’. He literally told me I said that on camera. What he told the press was, I asked for it.”
In a 2020 interview with the Huffington Post, Kashyap said, “He (Abbai) wants to make art films, but he also wants mainstream interest. The perks and luxuries of being a ‘Deol’. He’ll live in a five-star hotel.” Hotel, while the entire crew stayed in Paharganj for a film on a very tight budget.”
Abhay further stated, “Obviously a lot of unprofessional things happened.” The Trial by Fire actor continued, “I was easily manipulated back then. Life is too short and there is so much to discover, but he is an absolute liar, he is an absolute toxic person and I would warn people to beware of him,” he said.
Kashyap has previously said that it was “very difficult” to work with Abhay, and the two haven’t talked since they completed the formalities on Dev.D. In this interview, Abhay also stated that he has not seen any Anurag Kashyap movies since Dev.D.
