Thomas Magnum returns to the case in first trailer Universal PI After the series moved to NBC.
NBC has released the first full trailer for the fifth-season reboot of the crime drama, which centers on the titular soldier-turned-private eye and was first popularized by Tom Selleck on the original series in 1980 . The series, which was resumed by NBC after being canceled by CBS, is scheduled to return on Feb. 19.
The ex-Navy SEAL (played by Jay Hernandez) will lead the dangerous car chase, surfing his ohana against the picturesque backdrop of Hawaii, and, apparently, with ex-MI6 lover Juliet Hee Kings (Perdita Weeks) shower together. Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang and Amy Hill round out the cast.
The reboot from original creators Glen A. Larson and Donald P. Bellisario comes from showrunner Peter Lenkov, who was fired from CBS in 2020 for allegedly fostering a toxic work environment. He was replaced by Eric Guggenheim, who serves as executive producer along with Justin Lin, John Davis and John Fox.
season 5 of Universal PI returns Sunday, February 19 at 9 p.m. on NBC and will air on Peacock. Watch the action-packed trailer above.
