Arc’teryx parent company Salomon and Wilson becomes first customer to use Sourcemap’s new standardized product

New York, January 26, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Sourcemap, a global provider of supply chain transparency and traceability software, announced today that Amer Sports — the parent company of the world’s top sports and outdoor brands including Arc’teryx, Salomon, Wilson — has signed an agreement to track key merchandise , such as cotton and viscose, also known as rayon. Amer Sports will utilize Sourcemap’s full suite of supply chain transparency solutions to collect transaction certificates for certified materials and independently verify the entire chain of custody of the company and its subsidiaries, from raw materials to finished goods, in its supply chain spanning five continents.

Cotton and viscose, two common raw materials for everyday and sportswear in the apparel industry, pass through many intermediate stations from the forest or farm where they are sourced to retailer shelves. Thoroughly inspecting and controlling how and where these materials move between ginners, traders, fabric mills, sewers and other intermediaries is often a costly and technically difficult challenge. In the US, legislation such as the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act forces importers to irrefutably prove how their cotton and viscose was sourced or risk legal and financial repercussions, but among the apparel companies surveyed by KPMG, Fewer than 20% of companies said they had a good understanding of their supply chain.

Amer Sports brands including Arc’teryx, Salomon, Peak Performance, Atomic, Wilson, Armada, ENVE Composites, Louisville Slugger and DeMarini develop, create and market world-class sports and outdoor equipment, footwear, apparel and accessories. With such a complex supply chain, Amer Sports relies on real-time merchandise mapping to ensure material compliance.

“Customer satisfaction is one of our main priorities and we achieve this when we create full transparency throughout our supply chain and comply with local and international regulations,” said Pascal Covata, Vice President of Global Sourcing for Amer Sports. “Sourcemap has been an integral partner in enabling us to meet these customer needs and compliance expectations for end-to-end supply chain transparency.”

The supplier discovery process pioneered by Sourcemap connects direct and indirect suppliers, sites, channels and deals for an up-to-date picture of entire global operations. On average, Sourcemap clients discover over 10,000 suppliers in the process; since signing up as a client, Amer Sports has implemented Sourcemap’s Supplier Discovery Program for one of its staple commodities, cotton, From the factory to the upstream supplier of the factory.

Sourcemap leads the way in offering certified workflows, a customizable solution that ensures brand protection and credibility at every level of the supply chain. Sourcemap’s certification workflow is multi-brand, multi-certification and multi-commodity, thoroughly gathering an audit trail of evidence for future reporting, ensuring that every component of the value chain is verified. By leveraging Sourcemap’s certification workflow, Amer Sports was able to manage its complex supply chain with end-to-end visibility across the value chain, an essential task in remaining compliant and competitive.

“We will continue to see forward-thinking brands like Amer Sports, with complex supply chains reaching nearly every corner of the world, go beyond traditional mapping systems,” said Sourcemap CEO and founder. Leo Bonanni“As global companies continue to build resilient supply chains, traceability and transparency move ever closer to the center of successful business planning. Sourcemap is key to helping companies across all industries stay one step ahead.”
