Ania Sabalenka clinched her first career Grand Slam title with a three-set victory over Elena Rybakina at the Australian Open on Saturday. Naturally, the 24-year-old had nothing to do but celebrate after her win in Melbourne, which she did with a spectacular TikTok post-match.
The viral video begins with a close-up of Sabalenka, with some very relevant audio playing in the background.
“Anyone wondering what I would have done if I hadn’t won…” the audio begins. “I don’t think we’ll ever know.”
That’s when Sabalenka turned the camera to show her holding the Australian Open trophy and celebrating with her team, who started jumping up and down and cheering.
Belarusian native Sabalenka got all she could from defending Wimbledon champion Rybakina, but narrowly won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The match capped a dominating run for the world No. 5, who dropped just one set in the match.
“I would say last year we had a lot of setbacks,” Sabalenka told her team after the game. “We worked hard and you guys deserve this trophy. It’s more about you than me.”
With her second win of 2022, Sabalenka is now poised to move up to second after her Australian Open title.
