Ben Whishaw admits he doesn’t know if Paddington 3 is “happening”.
Back in the summer, it was reported that Paddington, Peru would begin principal photography in 2023, with the team filming locations in London and Peru.
However, the voice behind the titular bear admits he hasn’t even read the script yet, and that everything has gone “silent.”
He told Collider: “I haven’t read the script, I don’t even know when we’re going to start filming. I don’t know. I thought it was going to happen now, but I don’t know. Silence. Maybe it just means they’re still working on it, or maybe it means it’s not happening, or you just don’t know.”
In June, it was announced that filmmaker Dougal Wilson would succeed Paul King in two Paddington films, directing Paddington in Peru. ).
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “As a huge fan of the first two films, I’m excited (if not a little scared) to continue Paddington’s story.
“It’s a huge responsibility, but all of my efforts will be focused on making a third film that will honor the love so many have for this very special bear.”
King will remain on the project as an executive producer, while he also wrote the story with Paddington collaborators Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton.
Burton teamed up with Jon Foster and James Lamont to write the screenplay.
King added: “After a decade of working on the Paddington film, I find the protection of this little bear ridiculous and I’m delighted that Dougal will be there to hold his paw as he starts his third. Big screen adventure.
“Dougal’s work is always amazing: funny, beautiful, visceral, imaginative and completely original.
“Aunt Lucy once told us to ‘please take care of this bear.'” I knew Dougal would do well. “
The plot and cast of the upcoming film are still being kept under wraps, with Ben voicing the Bear in the first two films as he joins the Browns on their adventures, led by actors Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins.
