Benedict Cumberbatch is said to have paid £8.1million for a mansion on the Somerset estate.
The “Sherlock” actor, 46, reportedly worth an estimated £32.7million, bought the property in May 2022 with his theater director wife Sophie Hunter, 44, after spotting it in 2020 took this property.
According to The Sun, his land includes a Grade II listed cottage, organic farm, cider orchard, wine cellar and library.
It is also said to include a Gothic arch, said to have been built to impress King George III, who was a regular visitor here in the late 1700s.
A source told the newspaper on Saturday (14/01/23): “It’s really lovely, secluded, peaceful and perfect for getting away from it all.
“Although the house has a lot of history, it has all the modern amenities. The locals in the nearby villages know about it.
“Everyone is excited about their new neighbors.”
The property is said to have been handled by Savills Realtors.
Benedict, who already lives with Sophie in London, will have another payday for “Sherlock” if he agrees to appear in the fifth season of the BBC show.
Its co-creator Steven Moffat, 61, said he would create a new season if both Benedict and his co-star Martin Freeman agreed to return for a new season.
Speaking to the BBC’s “Today” program on Monday (09/01/23), Steven said he would begin work on the series “tomorrow” if the cast signed up, but told Deadline: “They Bigger and better things are being done, but, Martin and Benedict – ‘Come back please?’”
