Brian Falduto was once known for uttering the memorable line, “You’re cheesy and I hate you,” playing Billy in the 2003 film school of rockTwenty years later, he’s rocking real life as a country musician.
On Friday, the 30-year-old performer released a new single titled “Big Boys Club,” an ode to finding serious love as a gay man in an environment that often seems rife with sensuality and disappointment.
“‘Big Boys Club’ came from the fact that I’m a bit tired of dating. I mean, dating — especially in queer culture — can be exhausting. It’s a string of first and second dates, wait Response, poor communication, disappointment, swiping for nothing, being ignored, feeling unwelcome, having bad sex with strangers and ghosting,” Falduto told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. “The list goes on because the effort knows no bounds.”

He continued, “I wanted to write a song that would celebrate those of us who consciously break free from harmful dating patterns and strive to present ourselves in a more conscious, vulnerable and relationship-satisfying way.”
The song follows his latest “Hottest Man Here” and the viral “Same Old Country Love Song” as the third single from his upcoming EP, gay country.

Shortly after the release of “Same Old Country Song” last year, the song racked up millions of views via TikTok and was featured in Falduto’s video school of rock Co-stars Jack Black and the influential Tate Hoskins.
“It’s fantastic, to say the least,” says the successful musician. “As an independent artist, I spend a lot of energy self-validating my efforts, because if all your work is driven by external success metrics, you burn out quickly. But I’d be lying if I What a rewarding message of support and encouragement you’ve received.”

In 2021, Falduto spoke to people about how school of rock Make it hard for him to accept the sexuality he grew up with.

Today, not only is he confident in who he is, but he’s helping others on the same journey. “Just this morning, someone sneaked into my private message to tell me they and their partner love each other [‘Same Old Country Love Song’] So much so that it will be the first song they dance to at the wedding,” Falduto said.
He added, “I’m so grateful, I just wanted to put it all in so as not to miss this moment. It’s also a testament to how many gay people have been excluded from country music for so long. I hope this song continues to find the most needed Its people. Country music is no longer an exclusive genre.”
