The owner of Tree Services in Spokane Valley wants to build two new apartment buildings near the intersection of Barker Road and East Appleway Avenue.
Spokane Tree Pro owner Benjamin Stanton has begun the pre-application process for two 30-apartment buildings at 18403 E. Bow Ave., just south and west of the intersection of Barker Road and Appleway.
“It’s always been a dream of mine. It’s kind of a moonshot,” Stanton said.
“We have some rentals, but nothing this big.”
The estimated cost of the building is $4.1 million. He stressed that the project has only just begun.
“We hope to start construction this year, depending on how the permitting process goes,” Stantonw said. “I just want some long-term rentals. Hopefully one day I can give these buildings to my kids.”
Stanton has run Spokane Tree Pro for eight years but hopes to diversify with new apartment buildings, he said.
The new Nom Nom comes to Bigelow Gulch
Building permits were issued Thursday for the proposed Nom Nom convenience store near the intersection of 8926 E. Bigelow Gulch Road and Argonne Road.
Plans call for a 24-foot-tall building to provide 4,778 square feet of space for the convenience store. Plans also call for a gas station.
The estimated cost of the project is approximately US$ 1.3 million.
Wolfe Architectural Group is designing the building, and Baker Construction & Development Company is listed as the contractor. Idalia Guillen of the Wolfe Architectural Group said she thought construction could start in September.
Pursuit of Storage Unit Expansion
Retired attorney Jay Rambo filed an application this month to begin Phase 4 of the expansion of the Wilbur Road Self Storage, located at 1710 N. Wilbur Road, Building H. The site is just south of the intersection of Interstate 90 and Pines.
Plans call for the construction of 48 storage units, which will be added to the 240 storage units currently being built at the site, Rambo said.
“We want to start as soon as possible after permits are granted and the ground melts,” Rambo said.
Certificates of occupancy allowing Rambo to rent the new storage units for the third phase were obtained last fall. The expected cost of the expansion is approximately $575,000.
“We were new to the storage unit business,” Rambos said. “It’s been a good business for the last three or four years.”
The new additions will include larger units including 10 x 15 ft and 10 x 30 ft spaces.
“Those tend to be our most popular units,” he said.
Meade office building planned
Diamond Construction Co. filed an application last week to build two new multi-tenant office buildings and a parking lot at 12913 N. Raptor Lane, north of East Farwell Road and west of Northwood Middle School.
Plans call for two two-story buildings. One will be 20,138 square feet and the other will be 27,988 square feet. The permit application also calls for parking garages for the two office buildings.
The total project cost is estimated at US$ 1.8 million. Project contractor Tom Riley of Diamond Rock Construction in Spokane Valley could not be reached for comment.
The project was designed by Spokane-based architectural firm Bernardo Wills.
