PITTSBURGH — Even in the first quarter of the final Monday Night Football game of the season, former Pete Panthers and current Buffalo Bill Damar Hamlin suffered horrific injuries on the field. He goes to the tackle, stands for a moment, then falls to the ground.
With the Bills and the entire Tigers team surrounding him at halftime, medical staff attended to Hamlin on the field for about 15 minutes, performing CPR before sending him to the backboard and the ambulance.
The game was suspended, and the two teams returned to the locker rooms to regroup.
Hamlin had a stellar four-year run at Pitt, recording nearly 300 career tackles and 19 pass defenses before leaving school in 2021 and being drafted by Buffalo in the sixth round. He earned a starting job with the Super Bowl contender Bills after taking advantage of an opportunity presented by a back-end injury.
