Free Turn Entertainment Announces Robbie Ashcroft, Former International Development Partner at Dentsu’s The Story Lab, as Managing Partner Innovative pipeline, and new partnerships for the company’s film and television segments.
Free Turn Entertainment was founded in 2020 by BAFTA award-winning director Nick Hamm, his executive producer brother Jon Hamm and former WPP alumnus Gemma Bartleby to produce quality film, television and immersive audio for audiences around the world. Recent credits include last year’s ensemble cast by Academy Award winners Marcia Gay Harden, Charlie Rowe, Josephine Langford, Zoe Colletti, Hannah Alligood, Jim Belushi and Diane Ladd in the hit feature film Gigi & Nate, which opens in Roadside, USA in 2022. The company has seen significant growth over the past 18 months, with many new projects coming to screens or headsets in 2024.
While at The Story Lab, Robbie was responsible for establishing and leading a new development and production fund for “original audio projects with multi-platform potential” in partnership with Global Media and Entertainment. Under his leadership, the initiative received the green light such as the global hit “Hunting Ghislaine” starring John Sweeney.
Robbie also manages a strategic partnership between Dentsu and Yahoo, co-developing and producing an innovative mixed reality TV format with partners at its XR smartstage in Holborn. Interstellar used the deal to air their show All Star Dance Off on ITV2 in 2021.
Free Turn CEO Jon Hamm “Robbie is a rare breed with a strong creative spirit and deep understanding of the multi-platform entertainment landscape, giving him a unique perspective on the future of the industry in all its existing and emerging formats. Whether we’re producing an immersive audio series, developing a new TV show or making a movie, Free Turn will always strive to create something truly original, and Robbie will be a great addition to the team making it happen.”
Robbie Ashcroft, “Free Turns’ ability to connect all the top international creative talent with their audio, film and TV projects is outstanding. Adding to the fact that they’re building an entertainment company with IP across all these mediums is an obvious choice A no-brainer. We have big plans for the future and I can’t wait to start making them happen!”
