La Crosse, Wisconsin (WEAU) – Gundersen Health System is celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Gundersen Health said Monday that Martin Luther King Day is an opportunity to pause and reflect on Dr. King’s message, its importance, impact and continued relevance to each of us today.
Mai Chao Duddeck, Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Solutions at Gundersen Health System, said: “As leaders in this organization, it is very important that we engage everyone and work together, rather than with a divisive mindset or approach. important.” .
Gundersen Health System says it recognizes that while progress has been made since the early 1960s, health care disparities still exist in its community. Gundersen said it is dedicating resources “to develop a sustainable strategy to support its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts to close these gaps and foster a sense of belonging in all communities.”
Gundersen Health’s DEI aims to close these health care gaps and work together to ensure everyone feels they belong, Duddeck said. She added that education begins at home, encouraging people to learn about others from backgrounds different from their own and to get involved in their communities.
