It’s December 20th and I’m sitting in a too cold sunroom in St. Petersburg, Florida. The temperature outside was 61 degrees. I know. Life is tough for us Floridians. The time is 5:30 am
It’s my routine of waking up at 5:30 every morning, and I’ve been doing it for so long that my eyes don’t need an alarm clock to open — even on weekends. I love mornings. I love hot coffee, and I love the chance to have a few moments of quiet before the sun comes up and my day begins.
Many of us have difficulty meditating. The mind just doesn’t want to shut up. Think, think, think. We think we can get away with it. We get bored with the things that irritate us. Many of us live with drama every day. Anxiety fills our chest, and we are constantly trying to shake off the feeling of frustration.
Life becomes what we are “going through”. We survive, we persevere, and we hope for happier days to come. We are waiting to retire. Wait for things to slow down.
“I’m an old man and know a lot of trouble, most of which never happened.” -Mark Twain
