SPENCER — A popular dining spot has reopened after the owner said it was no longer for sale.
Spencer Grill and RV Park is located off Interstate 15 near the Montana border. Its proximity to many recreational opportunities, including Stoddard Creek Campground and Camas National Wildlife Refuge, makes it a popular tourist destination for people from all over the world.
Owner Paul Williams closed the restaurant in August due to a number of factors. One of the reasons is to help his wife Christine for health reasons. In February 2011, she was involved in a car accident that left her with a brain bleed, broken ribs, torn liver and other injuries.

He said she’s better now, but it’s still difficult at times.
“Because of the brain injury, it was very painful to watch what she did and what she went through when she was tired and exhausted, but she did a good job. She stuck there,” Williams told EastIdahoNews.com .
Williams decided to reopen the grill in late December after he had no luck selling the property.
“We thought we sold it in mid-November. A guy sent a check … and got the paperwork … but it didn’t work out,” Williams said. “We discussed it and we just decided we’d better open the doors at least a few days a week and see what happens and where we’re going.”
He said the Spencer Grill is only open Thursday through Sunday from 11am to 7pm and closed three days a week. People who have returned since he reopened are happy, he said.
“They’re all very supportive and excited, and everyone’s really happy that we’re reopening,” he said.
He said there were some changes. The menu has been reduced; however, breakfast, lunch and dinner are still served and the quality of the food has not changed.
“The whole reason I’m in this business is I want better quality food. … Burgers are ground, steaks are premium cuts, there’s really nothing like it. That’s what we focus on, we Still looking at it,” he said.
As for the property, Williams said he will continue to operate it until it sells. Restaurants and RV parks are listed online. It was described as “an excellent opportunity to acquire a popular business with direct access to the thousands of daily travelers on I-15 who pass through Idaho’s ideal camping, hunting, snowmobiling and Central to fishing destinations. National Forest within minutes.”
