Jacksonville, FL – As the Jaguars face the Chiefs in Kansas City, many fans will gather to cheer on them — in Jacksonville, about 1,100 miles away.
Around Jacksonville Beach, bars and restaurants are bracing for big crowds.
Randall Roberts, manager of the Sneakers Sports Grille, said he expected hundreds of customers on Saturday.
“Just make sure we have enough product, make sure we have enough people, make sure we’re ready for the crowd, because whenever they win, we expect a full house.”
The Shim Sham Room across the street opens early at 3pm with game day specials.
“The kitchen will open early, and then we’ll have free snaquiri shots, which are like mini daiquiris every time the Jaguars score a touchdown,” said Shim Sham manager Joe Koerber.
The bar’s iconic taxidermy bear even wore his own Jag’s jersey on Friday night.
Jags fan Kal Floyd said he plans to watch the game from a beach bar and believes his team will take home the win.
“Kansas City — I’m sorry, man,” Floyd said. “We’ll take care of you. This is our time. This is the Jacksonville Jaguar time.”
If you plan to catch a game at any of the bars or restaurants in Jax Beach, you need to make sure you get there early.
