Jennifer Lopez received heat for claiming she should have performed alongside Madonna and Britney Spears at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.
in a recent interview and!informationThis marry me The star revealed she couldn’t take part in the show because she’s filming the film in Canada.
Lopez’s statement wasn’t well-received by her fans, who blasted her for making up the story because she wasn’t that well-known when the awards were presented.
“Idc if this is true then the narrative of this era is meaningless,” wrote one fan OK! Magazine. “Britney and Xtina are pop rivals, and Madonna is the pop diva they’ve been foisting on Britney.”
“Madonna/British and anyone else is fine,” the user further said, as someone pointed out, “well, XTINA and Britney make more sense because those two have more Madonna influences in their music , and was a girl in pop music at the time.”
Some social media users took issue with her claims as they accused her of lying, writing an article, “She does nothing but lie.”
“I think she’s just making it up. No shadows…,” wrote one, while another commented, “I swear to God, everything she does is a lie.”
However, Lopez’s story is actually true, as MTV president Van Toffler previously confirmed the story in 2012.
“It’s a long way to go for Britney and Christina Kiss because they’re not necessarily the first ones on the hit list,” he said Entertainment Weekly.
“It may have been public for the first time, but initially J.Lo was involved. That didn’t happen.”
