Jimin has become Dior’s global brand ambassador.
The BTS superstar will start appearing in more Dior campaigns after taking on an important role.
“The Korean artist now embodies the spirit and exclusivity of the Dior style, as well as modernity with a timeless signature,” said Dior.
Jimin follows BLACKPINK’s fellow K-Pop star Jisoo, who became Dior’s muse in 2020 before continuing to model in its Fall/Winter collection. The 28-year-old star continued to appear in Dior campaigns.
And don’t forget, BTS also wore menswear designer Kim Jones in 2019’s “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself.”
Meanwhile, Delphine Arnault was named head of Christian Dior earlier this month.
The 47-year-old businesswoman, who is stepping down as executive vice president of Louis Vuitton, is the eldest daughter of Bernard Arnault, founder and chief executive of LVMH Moet Hennessy, the world’s largest luxury goods company.
Arnault said: “Under Delphine’s leadership, the popularity of Louis Vuitton’s products has increased significantly, enabling the brand to regularly break sales records.
“Her keen insight and unparalleled experience will be decisive assets for the continued development of Christian Dior.”
Dior is the second largest house in Arnault’s luxury empire, which recently saw him become the world’s richest man.
Arnault, 73, also confirmed that outgoing Dior chief Pietro Beccari would succeed Michael Burke as chief executive of Louis Vuitton.
“Succession planning in a strategic role has been instrumental to the success of LVMH’s major brands over the past two decades, so today’s move is significant,” said Citi analyst Thomas Chauvet.
Arnault’s other children — Antoine, 45, Alexander, 30, Frederick, 28, and Jean, 25 — all hold other roles in the billionaire business empire.
Meanwhile, Delphine has previously predicted a new wave of creativity in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She explained: “Creativity always runs high after a pandemic, war or other difficult times. I’m curious to see what happens after that and how artists will relate to it in their work.
“Look at Christian Dior: he founded his house and New Look in 1947, right after World War II. After very difficult times, there is always a lot of creative things happen.”
