After working as a sports intern at KARE, Trowbridge went on to produce nightly sports shows and “Prep Sports Extra”.
Golden Valley, Minnesota – KARE 11 is mourning one of our own after sports producer Andy Trowbridge passed away over the weekend following a short illness.
Andy Trowbridge is a graduate of Anoka High School and has a degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota. He started as an intern in KARE 11’s sports department nearly 15 years ago and has never left since, continuing to produce weekend and weeknight sports programming and a “Vikings Special” show. Andy also worked closely with Randy Shaver as producer of “Prep Sports Extra” during high school football season.
“Andy worked hard to be our sports producer, a job he loves with all his heart,” Shaffer paid tribute during the live stream. “Calm, calm, focused, but always with a sneaky sly smile, even when there’s chaos around him. He loves the role. No job is too big or too small. He’ll get it done, get it right. Andy’s great Lovely, kind, thoughtful, funny, the kind of guy who can be your friend for life.”
Andy has a great passion for sports, especially for all the teams in his hometown of Minnesota, especially his alma mater, the Golden Gophers.
Andy Trowbridge is 35 years old. He will be dearly missed by all of KARE 11’s friends and colleagues.
In lieu of flowers, Andy’s family is asking for a donation to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.
