Lancaster, PA (WHTM) — The Lancaster Program is working with outside consultants to assess the health needs of its community.
A year-long health assessment, including focus groups and door-to-door canvassing (from March to June), will be conducted to find solutions to the problem.
The goal of the assessment is to close the gap in access to quality health care.
“The goal of a community needs assessment is to examine the health needs of the community in the wake of the pandemic, which we know is exacerbating our residents’ problems,” said Craig Walter, Director of Community Development for the City of Lancaster.
City officials say research over the past decade has shown a link between specific housing conditions and overall health.
The final report is expected to be completed in 2024.
