Lehigh Valley Health Network plans to close five of its COVID-19 vaccine clinics next month.
LVHN will open public clinics in Spring 2021 in Palmer Township, Whitehall Township, Hazleton, Pottsville, and East Stroudsburg. The clinics will be closed on February 3.
LVHN previously operated the Palmer Township Clinic in an old Sears department store in the Northampton Crossings shopping center. The mall site closed last August after usage dwindled and the clinic moved to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hecktown Oaks campus.
Following the closure of LVHN clinics, all primary care clinics in the Lehigh Valley Physician Group will offer an initial dose of the vaccine to those 6 months and older and a booster shot to those 5 years and older.
These in-practice COVID-19 vaccination programs will open within the next two weeks, LVHN said in a release.
The news comes after Northampton County closed its testing and vaccine site operated in partnership with Lehigh Valley Hospital Coordinated Health Allentown Hospital.
The drive-thru COVID-19 testing and vaccine site at Coordinated Health in Bethlehem was closed in October and the county walk-in COVID testing site at 2300 Highland Avenue in Bethlehem was closed on Friday.
