Throughout his exciting young NBA career, Luka Doncic has never been shy. In his most scoring season so far, that didn’t change Monday night against the Pistons.
Doncic scored 53 points on 17-of-24 shooting in Dallas’ 111-105 home win. In the middle of it all, Doncic found time to trash talk the Pistons bench, commenting after the game, “I’m not scared.”
“That was their assistant coach. He started tweeting in the first quarter,” Doncic said. “They didn’t like me responding. They said, ‘Play basketball. If they’re going to chirp at me, I’ll chirp back. I’m not afraid.”
It was Doncic’s fourth 50-point game this season and fifth in his career, making him just the third NBA player in the past 50 years to have five such games in his first five seasons players. The other two are Michael Jordan (17) and LeBron James (5), According to ESPN Stats and Information.
