Malachi Kirby is ‘surprised’ by his newfound love for fashion.
The “Roots” star feels like a “fish out of water” when it comes to the world of styling, but he’s keen to understand his preferences and improve his sartorial taste and range.
The 33-year-old actor told Esquire magazine: “I’m a bit of a fish when it comes to fashion. I’m really new to it, it’s definitely not what I focus on. But I’m surprised I’m so interested in it .”
Malachi loves the garments of classic British menswear designer Paul Smith because they are “everyday” yet “high class”.
He said: “The idea of ’wearable’ is weird, but sometimes I see some clothes and I think, ‘Do people actually wear this? Like, in real life? But at Paul Smith there are more than average sizes. Great balance—something you can wear to an event—but also in everyday life. It’s just a little taller.”
The “Boiling Point” star called being part of the professional kitchen drama starring Stephen Graham “special” as filming was hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, raising many worrying questions about the future of the kitchen film industry.
“It feels special in a way,” Malachi said. “I feel like we were the last ones to do a movie. Don’t know when we’re going to do it again. It might be the last time we do it, maybe forever.”
