Battle Sports hosted the first big game of the seven-on-seven season. It takes place in South Florida and the amount of talent is unbelievable.
Let’s get started, because there are some interesting job postings to share about top prospects and the Miami Hurricanes.
Perhaps the most important note stems from the general theme of the visit, as many of the teams participating in the Battle Sports tournament Saturday night traveled to Coral Gables to visit the U.
Some of the many teams include South Florida Express (Fort Lauderdale-Miami), Burch Sports (Jacksonville), Slimey Boyz (Tampa area), Sound Mind Sound Body (Detroit area) and Texas Threat (Dallas area).
As for the prospects themselves, there’s no way anyone can list them. Consider the following overview. Also, there is no particular order among the following foregrounds.
jeremiah smith, wide receiver, South Florida Express/ft. Lauderdale (FL) Chaminade – Madonna – 2024
Just because he’s committed to Ohio State doesn’t change him from being one of the most coveted prospects in the country. Miami, as well as many other teams, have and will be chasing the youngster. There’s no reason Cane, or any other procedure, shouldn’t.
He was arguably the most impressive player on Day 1 of the Miami game. His one-handed catch in the end zone, as the clip below shows:
Looking at the entire class of 2024, Smith is arguably the best candidate to enter the NFL, and not just because of his physical gifts. However, he does have many of them.
Incredible in all of the following categories: Length, Speed, Change of Direction, Speed, and Hand-Eye Coordination. Equally important, he once again displayed an unusual maturity for someone not yet 18. Smith has long been deservedly considered an elite prospect, and yesterday was more proof of that.
Zaquan PattersonATH, Defcon 7v7 / Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna – 2024
A top recruiting target for Miami, Patterson (see interview article for more details) played safety and cornerback for Defcon 7v7. He’s being recruited by numerous programs across the country, and he could end up in multiple positions at the collegiate level.
He looks even stronger than last spring. Patterson gained weight.
bryce underwoodQuarterback, SMSB / Belleville (Mich.) High School – 2025
A highly regarded young signal-caller, Underwood stands out among elite athletes at 6-foot-4, 207 pounds and muscular. He was ranked 3rd overall in 247 sports.
Underwood, who already had offers from the Hurricanes on Friday, visited Miami and returned Saturday night. Miami should be considered a project Underwood is considering, with back-to-back unofficial visits, to say the least.
Watching him move around, change his arm angle, throw the ball fast or come off his pitch, it’s easy to see why Underwood ranks so highly. He still needs to learn the nuances of the quarterback position, but there’s no question he’s one of the top prospects in the country, and it’s not about class.
Jordan Johnson-RubelSecurity, Texas Threat / Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy – 2024
The Fort Worth, Texas, prospect who transferred to IMG already visited Miami on Friday night. He’s one of the most recruited players in the Lone Star State, and Miami is among them.
Johnson visited the Hurricanes on Friday night. Miami is definitely involved and has a legitimate chance to sign Johnson-Rubel. Some of the teams that have been competing for his services include Texas, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Ole Miss and many other programs. Great kid, and a perfectly healthy kid at that. A bright future lies ahead of him.
jamie frenchWide Receiver, Burch Sports / Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin – 2025
Ffrench has an offer from Miami’s coaching staff and is one of the most coveted prospects in the Sunshine State. He was heading to Miami for an unofficial visit with teammates on Saturday night. Expect the cane to keep pushing him.
Seeing Ffrench play, he’s another prospect who really puts on weight. In fact, he has reshaped his body since last season. He still offers the fluid motion of a true big receiver.
In addition, Ffrench holds leadership positions within his Burch Sports team. He’s the vocal player who gets his teammates to work out and continues to do so when he’s playing. Another great young man around.
This is just a small part of the recruiting and general thoughts on Day 1 of the Fighting Tournament.Further outlook assessments will come from all hurricanes in the next few days.
