
Miner safety and health app now available in Spanish
The app is available to miners in English and Spanish.
An app for miners launching in 2022 is now available in a second language, giving more people access to important information and resources.
The Ministry of Labor announced in mid-January that the Miners Safety and Health app, which launched in English in August 2022, is now available in Spanish, according to a press release. To enable Spanish, change the language on your phone to Spanish.
“Spanish-speaking miners across the United States can now have important mine safety and health information, as well as their rights as miners, in the palm of their hands,” Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health Chris Williamson said in a statement. said at a press conference.
The Miner Safety and Health App contains many safety and health topics, including information on combustible materials, fire protection, noise protection and silica, a list of miners’ rights and information on the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). Users can also report incidents and contact MSHA via phone or email on the app.
“The Miners Safety and Health app is a resource that empowers miners and helps them take an active role in mine safety and health,” Williamson added. “Even so, the Mining Act clearly states that mining operators have the primary responsibility for maintaining safe and healthy working conditions, including providing miners with the necessary training.”
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2021 there will be 1,930 lost work days due to injury or illness in the mining industry. In the same year, 32 people died in the industry.
Miner Safety and Health App is available for Android and iOS devices.
