Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital held its fifth annual Snowball Run on Saturday, January 7 with 20 participants from across the area. The top three are first Noah Copley, second Charlie Kirkpatrick and third Jennifer Swift.
“It’s important to host these races to promote healthy living and fight the obesity epidemic in the U.S. and in West Virginia,” said Kevin Stalnaker, chief administrative officer at Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. “Our goal is to provide The opportunity to get out and exercise keeps members of our community healthy.”
The 2022 Lewis County Community Health Needs Assessment found that 43 percent of the county’s adults were considered obese, an increase from 2019 findings and 17 points above the national benchmark. Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital is committed to addressing these statistics by encouraging physical activity through walk/run events across the county.
The hospital continues to host the fourth annual Groundhog Day 5K Walk/Run series. The event will be held at Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, 230 Weston Hospital Plaza, on Saturday, February 4 at 10 am.
