So far, most of the PAC’s funding has come from business interests, but the new donations include $200,000 from unions, Holmes said.
The first payouts will be in the 11th, 12th, 25th and 48th arrondissements, with digital ads, mail or both starting early next week.
Holmes wouldn’t say who would benefit, but it’s safe to say the group will support current council members Nicole Lee (11) and Annabelle Abarka (12) and oppose Alder. Brian Sigcho-Lopez, 25, member of the Council’s Socialist Caucus. Current Alder. Harry Osterman is set to retire in the 48th district, and there are signs that the new PAC doesn’t like one of the candidates running to succeed him, Nick Ward, who got the Democratic Society of Chicago support of activists.
