Medford, Oregon – Two organizations are teaming up to bring entertainment opportunities to Rogue Valley.
The Randall Theater Company is operated by the Ghostlight Playhouse located in downtown Medford. The nonprofit organization provides live entertainment for local residents. The Rockafairy is a lobby located at 31 West 6th Street, Medford. The hall provides leisure time for people of all ages to collaborate with other artists in the area.
John Wing, executive director of Randall Theater Company, said the partnership was a natural fit.
“Since then, we’ve been coming up with great ideas,” Wing said. “On how to benefit music education in the Rogue Valley and hopefully get community members to support downtown businesses.”
The first joint event the duo hosted was a weekly open mic for musicians of all ages every Friday night.
Shane Ross, president of Rockafairy, said the two nonprofits plan to study ways the community can support music education.
“This partnership provides a connection between the musician’s work space and the performance space,” Ross said. “In particular, it allows people of all ages within the community to experience the artist and what we do here .”
Wing said joining forces could create a possible mentorship program for budding artists.
“We like to keep it entertaining on our stage,” Wing said. “But as a nonprofit, if we can use this opportunity to develop the next wave of talent, which is young kids. You know, it makes sense for both of our nonprofits.”
