the angels— Actor Ben Savage is considering running for political office again.
The former “Boy Meets World” star has registered to run as a Democrat in California’s 30th Congressional District, according to a Federal Election Commission filing Wednesday.
A representative for Savage told ABC News in a statement that despite the filing, “he is focused on his upcoming wedding. Ben is still making decisions and is always looking for opportunities to give back and serve the community.”
(Earlier this month, Savage announced his engagement to Tessa Angermeier.)
Representatives for Savage did not answer follow-up questions about why he is filing campaign papers now.
The 30th District seat is currently held by longtime Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, who is seen as a potential candidate to succeed Sen. Dianne Feinstein, but she has not yet said whether she will Seek re-election.
If Savage does run for Congress, it won’t be his first re-election bid. He failed to run for the West Hollywood City Council in the 2022 election, focusing on neighborhood safety, housing and homelessness, according to his website.
A spokesman for Schiff said the congressman would not comment on Savage, who may seek the seat.
California’s 30th District includes parts of West Hollywood, Burbank and Pasadena.
Savage played the famous lead Corey Matthews on ABC’s “Boy Meets World” from 1993 to 2000, before reprising his role on the 2014 reboot “Girl Meets World.” . His most recent roles are two TV movies in 2022 and 2020.
Savage appears to have long been interested in politics, having studied political science at Stanford University, where he graduated in 2004. He also interned in 2003 for Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter, then a Republican.
General elections will be held on November 5, 2024.
