CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – For the first time ever, you can legally place sports bets in Ohio.
For Cleveland Cavaliers fans, the opportunity is within the just opened Caesars Sportsbook’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, just steps from the game.
“It’s a good thing, you can put down $10 and maybe win $200,” said one Cavs fan.
On Monday morning, Cleveland city leaders, Cavaliers officials and legends, and Caesars sportsbook leaders like David Grohlman showed the inside of the Las Vegas-based sportsbook, right on the Cavaliers The first few hours against the Chicago Bulls.
The roughly 10,355-square-foot sportsbook will feature full-screen flat-screen TVs, five betting windows and 15 betting booths.
The second level of the sportsbook includes an exclusive lounge-like ambiance with couches, chairs and cocktail tables.
Both the lower and upper floors will feature bars and extensive menus
Nic Barlage of Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse said the journey with Ceasars Sportsbook took three years.
“At the end of the day, when we start creating additional amenities and experiences around things like this, fans are at the center of everything we do,” Barlage said.
He told 19 News that the money earned from sports betting in Ohio also goes back to youth in the community.
“Ninety-eight percent of the tax revenue generated by sports betting goes straight back to schools,” Barlage said.
