Rougarou Press presents the second installment in Jann Franklin’s Small Town Girls series, “Twinkling Stars and Mason Jars”.
In Grand Cane author’s new book, The town of Graceville, Louisiana is in crisis and the mayor needs Jen Guidry’s help! Jen has finally embraced small-town life with open arms, but now she faces new challenges that test her faith. She struggles to balance her family and her desire to help others, but her husband, Mike, would prefer her to be left alone.
“While working with the mayor to save the town from financial crisis, she discovers that others need her help too. With Jen’s hilarious enthusiasm for her career, friendships, and matchmaking plans, she almost forgets that God is Best wishes from her family,” the synopsis noted.
Franklin graduated from Baylor University in 1989 with a degree in accounting. She and her husband John moved to Greater Cairn in 2019.
Franklin continues her accounting career until October 2021.
“I quit my work-at-home job because I really didn’t like it. Writing the column (for Mansfield Enterprises) was fun, but it didn’t take up all of my time,” Franklin said. “As I looked for ways to pass the time, my mind went back to ideas I had jotted down. My first thought was a series of short stories because I didn’t think I would have the patience to write a whole book. Fact Prove I did it.”
Her character, Jen, is partly based on herself.
“Jen used me as a mother, trying to raise my kids while dealing with life. I also moved to a small town, but after my kids grew up. In creating Jen, I quickly realized that if she had, the story would Richer additions to new towns and taking care of younger children,” she said.
