The former Original Joe’s at 144 Taylor Street became music and theater venue PianoFight in 2014 and expanded with a second venue in Auckland in 2020. But the pandemic is apparently still an issue for PianoFight, as months after they were forced to launch a virtual venue, now SFist reports that both PianoFight venues are closing permanently.
“The closure is of course sad,” PianoFight executive director Dan Williams said in a release, “but we are grateful and proud of what we were able to do.”
“We say yes to everything because we can, we think, and it’s more fun than saying no.” More than 10,000 artists are estimated to perform at the venue, adds Williams.
The final show at the two PianoFight venues will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2023
But there are nearly two months of PianoFight performances planned, including a SF SketchFest performance, plus additional performances by the SF Neo Futurists and Leela Improv. You can view the full remaining PianoFight calendar online.
