People have been using beauty products since the dawn of civilization, but the beauty industry has changed more than ever in the past five years. Traditional conglomerates such as Revlon have been challenged by independent disruptors such as Milani and Bubble. The range of strategic buyers has expanded from core stakeholders such as L’Oréal, Unilever and The Estée Lauder Companies to traditional consumer goods companies such as Church & Dwight and family investment vehicles such as Famille C. own beauty business.
To examine these changes, we created The Business of Beauty, bringing to beauty and wellness the same agenda-setting reporting that BoF has become the foremost and most trusted voice on the global fashion industry.
Today, we are doubling down on that commitment. We believe the beauty industry needs a modern, globally-minded B2B publication that goes beyond reporting news and provides in-depth analysis and consultative advice to beauty and wellness professionals around the world.
To lead the initiative, we’ve hired veteran beauty journalist Priya Rao as executive editor. Over the next few months, Priya will be working closely with our beauty editor Rachel Strugatz to develop even more must-read news, analytical features, proprietary research and events on the world of beauty:
- 2 dedicated weekly newsletters — This week we launched our new flagship weekly newsletter, written by Priya and published every Monday. Every Thursday, Rachel Strugatz will continue to share her weekly industry scoop and insights. To sign up for these free weekly newsletters, Click here.
- 2 Annual BoF Professional Case Studies — Next month, you’ll see the first of two case studies on the beauty industry, with a focus on elf grooming. Once a standalone startup, elf has delivered 15 consecutive quarters of growth and created a template for how brands can use TikTok to win Gen Z loyalty. Our case study breaks down how they did it. - The State of Fashion: The Beauty Report — In May, we will launch a dedicated report on the global beauty industry in partnership with McKinsey & Company, now in its eighth year, as part of the State of Fashion series. Stay tuned for updates to this report.
- Global Forum on the Business of Beauty: From May 30th to June 1st, we’ll be hosting our first invitation-only gathering at an intimate off-piste location in California, bringing together global beauty leaders The professional conference is characterized by being: interactive, inspiring and insightful .
