UnityPoint Health OB/GYN’s Clinic Supervisor Bre Ahrens wears a tan jacket while UnityPoint Health OB/GYN’s Clinic Administrator Sara Johnson prepares to cut a green ribbon to mark the opening of the UnityPoint Health site – Trinity Regional Medical Center Combined obstetrics, gynecology and mammography services. The celebration will take place on November 16, 2022.
Mammography and rehabilitation services moved to Trinity Regional Medical Center, UnityPoint Health’s main campus, to create a convenient and cost-effective location for patient care.
These service shifts are among the most notable changes for 2022 at Fort Dodge Hospital.
This past year, the hospital became the first hospital in Iowa to receive accreditation from DNV for its hip and knee replacement program, and some of its orthopedic care received national recognition.
This certification recognizes excellence in hip and knee replacement surgery and related procedures, including diagnosis, surgery, and treatment.
Merge and build changes
For years, patients needing physical therapy had to go to the Highland Park Center on South 25th Street.
Women, meanwhile, had to travel from the hospital to the Norma Schmoker Women’s Center across Kenyon Road for mammograms and other services.
It all ends in November.
After months of renovations, rehabilitation services and women’s services are open in the main hospital building.
Trinity Rehabilitation is opened in the hospital not far from Entrance C behind the main building.
The renamed Norma Schmoker Imagination Center opened on the second floor of the atrium in front of the main building. It is located in the same area as UnityPoint Clinic Obstetrics and Gynecology, which caters to women’s health needs.
Other notable changes to the hospital building include the reopening of Entrance C. This is the patient’s entrance to Trinity Lymphedema, Trinity Rehabilitation and Wound Center.
In addition, the Diabetes Center has also relocated. It can now be reached through the entrance in front of the main building on the west side of the main entrance.
Awards and Honors
In the past year, the hospital and its staff have received many honors.
In addition to certification in hip and knee replacement, the hospital’s honors include:
