Our financial situation is difficult, my husband works every day, so I live in a remote area and cannot go to a qualified medical facility
Fatima said bitterly
This time, Fatima was very excited because this was her first pregnancy in her seventh month. She frequently visited small non-specialist clinics near her home and they misdiagnosed her case, resulting in severe bleeding and pain they could not handle. One of the nurses advised Fatima’s husband to take her to Aljumhori Hospital.
Aljumhori Hospital, located in Sa’dah District, Sa’dah Province, is assisted by YFCA operational implementation and UNFPA funding. It is considered the reference service delivery point for RH services in the region. This acute obstetrical hospital provides a full range of maternal, neonatal and RH services (antenatal care, postpartum care, family planning and normal delivery).
Fatima arrived at Aljumhori Hospital in a very critical condition bleeding heavily. She underwent immediate clinical examination, laboratory tests, and ultrasonography. Doctors told her that she had placental abruption and a narrow pelvis that could lead to instability or miscarriage. Unfortunately, many women are unaware of the side effects of a narrow pelvis. Also, women with narrow pelvises are more likely to miscarry early in pregnancy than women without pelvises. Fatima was devastated and feared losing her fetus again.
Having a baby has become a distant dream of mine. Every pregnancy I lost my baby she was given life saving solutions, drugs and blood transfusions to make up the lost numbers immediately and an emergency C-section. Fortunately, the rescue team successfully rescued the mother and child. Now, she is fully aware of the importance of monthly follow-up with her condition by a specialist.
Fatima mentioned with tears in her eyes.
Hope every woman can get such good service in her place of residence, said Fatima gratefully.
